I was so thrilled to be accepted as a delegate for Miss Teen Ontario in September of 2012 I believe. No one I knew personally has ever done a pageant before and I am so happy to be able to say that I got to represent my hometown and my Hispanic community and culture on the national stage. It is an honor, and I hope I still made you all proud. I worked really hard to do my very best at nationals and I am satisfied with my performance at the preliminary show, I don’t know what else I could have done. Though the outcome was not in my favor this time, I am happy that Jill Martin from Saskatchewan won the title of Miss Teen Canada World 2013 because she is a true role model with a sweet and kind heart. She truly is deserving and I know she will do an awesome job at representing Canada internationally.

I got to appear on Breakfast Television Live!

My journey has just begun and Miss Teen Canada World has helped me in so many ways and I have gained so many opportunities from being a title holder. As Miss Teen Wellington County-World 2013, I will still continue in pursuing my dreams, promoting my platform, and making appearances. There is so much more I want to accomplish in my life and be above average. I have gained knowledge, wisdom, confidence and responsibility throughout my journey to nationals. I will not stop trying to achieve my goals, I know I will be successful.

At Much Music Live with the host and Miss Teen Canada-World 2012

I will continue to do pageants, but not for a while. Miss Teen Canada World is more than a pageant, it is an achievement. Not just anyone is able to compete nationally, and I am honored to be able to say that I was amongst the 65 beautiful young ladies vying for the title of Miss Teen Canada World 2013.  I will continue in being an aspiring commercial model, and now I am even thinking about getting into acting. I have learned so much about myself, and I made so many new friendships in just one week. The girls were amazing and so talented! I wish I could take them back home with me, I am going to miss them everyday and they truly left an impression on my life. I can’t wait to share this story with my children one day. I truly feel accomplished because I did something extraordinary that takes real guts! It takes a lot of confidence and determination to do something as big of a deal as this competition.

The preliminary show, evening gown! My girl, Tatiana.

I have never put in so much hard work and effort into this. Think twice before you make judgments upon pageant girls because we were all there wanting the same thing and we all deserved to be there because of our hard work. Not everyone is cut out for this and it is not easy in any way. The week of nationals was jam packed and I enjoyed every second of it! It was an amazing experience that I will never forget. Thank you to every single person who has supported me, believed in me, encouraged me, sponsored me, and voted for me. I love you all, this isn’t the last of me.

See you soon, Miss Teen Wellington County-World 2013. xoxo

It is only day number three and we have already done so much. Yesterday, I did my photoshoot, peronal interview with the judges, and then the video shoot. My favourite was saying the intro for the video ,”Jasmine Herrera, 18, Guelph Ontario!” It was so much fun and I am so excited to see the video. All of the girls are super nice and we get along great! Today we had a wake up call of 5am to go to the television show called Breakfast Television. Some girls got to speak about their unique attributes, and it was so amazing to see how they film the show. After that, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast before going to the CN Tower. Today was the first time ever I have ever been there. When we arrived people kept asking for our pictures and wished us all luck in the competition.

Thank you Costa Blanca!

My favourite part of the day would be the shoping tritotower the Yorkdale mall where Costa Blanca gave the girls a 50 dollar gift card. I found a really nice dress to wear for our appearance on New Music Live! We were in the audience so we had to look our best. I got a really good picture on my camera with the host that was there and the show was so entertaining with the dancers and beat boxers they had as guests today. On top of all that, the girls were set out to adventure the distillery historic district and complete a scavenger hunt! It looked like madness having 65 ladies running around all over the place. It was a fun time because we got to know eachother kmow and it was a little taste of the competition too.

These days, it can be difficult to find those certain people who will help others out of the good of their hearts. We live in a world where we are selfish, and only care about money. I am thankful for the life that I have been blessed with, but most importantly, for the people in my life. I am lucky to have such kind people supporting me along the way and helping me in any way they can. I am dedicating this blog post to my special sponsors. Making it this far would have been difficult without their help and generosity. Why should your company be interested in sponsorship? When done well, it offers significant opportunities for distinct marketing and competitive advantages, as well as showing support of the event.

My first photo shoot with Del Carmen

My first sponsor was Del Carmen Photography and Art Design. She did an amazing job on my very first photo shoot for the Provincial Ontario pageant and then when I moved onto nationals she did an exceptional photography session with my sash and crown.  Alexandra does marvelous portraits for Engagements, Weddings, Pregnancy, Babies, Fashion, Makeup, Special Events, Quinceaneras, Anniversaries etc. YOU NAME IT she does it! Del Carmen Photography and Art Design is photography for your special moments, paintings for kids and businesses. Like her Facebook Page to support her business, she truly is talented.

A close family friend of mine has his own Steam Clean Service and came running to me asking how he could help me out. All his hard work in promoting my journey to Miss Teen Canada-World to other businesses and sponsoring me has helped me tremendously.

Steam Clean Service!

His generosity and wise words boosted my confidence sky high. I love knowing that I have people cheering me on, and people who believe in me. To get a healthy clean home, give Isidro Roque a call for his awesome Steam Clean Services! You can reach him at isidro-steamservice@hotmail.com 🙂 What a great guy! He is a true neighbor with great character and a warm heart.

Last but not least, a big thank you to Willow West Dental Office for sponsoring me! They have been the greatest people to my family and I over the years. Their exceptional service and care is what keeps us coming back! All my sponsors deserve a thousand thank yous! I hope to make them all proud. I love them all so much, I really could not have been so successful on this once in a life time journey without them or anyone of my supporters. I just want to make everyone proud.  Your support as my sponsor will open many new opportunities for me, as well as help develop the mechanics necessary to enhance this experience. Also, your contribution will enable me to participate in in this highly distinguished national competition. This event will broaden my discipline and character, on and off the stage, which is invaluable to my future endeavors. As you can imagine, there is a lot of expenses involved in managing a pageant like this.  Your contribution is not solely a charitable contribution, but is also an advertising opportunity. Without the support of people like you, I will not be able to reach my goals.Thank you once again for your generous support. Love you always, Miss Teen Wellington County-World 2013.

Miss Teen Canada-World has many sponsors that have donated various different kinds of products and I am enjoying every minute of promoting their services and businesses because they help MTC-W inc. tremendously. This time, I get to write about the popular S-trip! Everyone at S-trip is very generous and are awarding the social media queen a grad trip! I really want this because unfortunately I was unable to join my best friends on their grad trip to the Dominican Republic with S-trip. They have described their vacation with S-trip as a trip of a lifetime! Thanks to S-trip for sponsoring Miss Teen Canada-World, I can hopefully make my dream vacation with friends come true! My ideal getaway would have to be Spain!

Majorca Island, Spain.

My dream vacation would be to visit Spain because it ranks as one of the top tourist destinations in the world. Part of my family is actually from Spain and it would be a great experience to see how my extended family lives in beautiful Spain. A large, culturally diverse country, it boasts breathtaking panoramic vistas, friendly people, great cuisine, fine wines and plenty of sun, sea and sand. From Spain’s big modern cities to its sleepy villages or world-class resorts, there is a wealth of things to see and do wherever you go in this fascinating country. Spain is renowned for its five thousand miles of coastline and beautiful golden or white sand beaches. Most areas of the country enjoy three hundred days of sunshine every year, so it’s no wonder that tourists and locals alike, flock to the beaches. In Spain you are never very far away from a beach. Spain is a veritable playground for the sports enthusiast. There you can indulge in wind surfing, sky diving, bungee jumping, scuba diving, or sail the waters of the Mediterranean or Atlantic. Spain has a vibrant nightlife and I would have the time of my life with ny best girlfriends Michelle, Rosie and Danielle here. We would dance the night away at the country’s many nightclubs, jazz lounges, live music venues, and flamenco theatres that cater to all tastes and ages.

Valencia, Spain. Fireworks Festival

Spain is home to some of the world’s most colourful and joyous festivals. Some festivals to check out are the La Tomatino Festival in Bunol, The Valencia Fireworks Festival, The Moors and Christian Festival Alicante, Las Hogueras de San Juan and La Féria de Malaga. For excitement, there is always the infamous running of the bulls at Pamplona, part of the San Fermin Festival. That would be a very memorable event to experience; not to mention a little scary! Another reason I would love to visit Spain is because Spain gave birth to some of the world’s most famous and unique artists from Velazquez, Goya, César Manrique and Picasso! With all that Spain has to offer, it is no wonder that the country has had an enduring appeal to vacationers from around the world. My most favourite activity that I would enjoy in Spain would be laying out on the beautiful beaches underneath the Spanish sun with my friends and showing off my Spanish roots! I am proud of my culture and travelling to Spain would teach me more about where my family came from and I would love to experience all the beauty that Spain has to offer. Other than their amazing soccer team who previously won the Euro cup. 😉 S-trip! takes student travellers on unforgettable adventures around the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Cuba, Costa Rica or Bahamas with all your friends on Grad Trip. Spend a weekend skiing or snowboarding at one of Canada’s premier mountain resorts on Ski Trip. Experience culture, sightseeing and events in Montreal or Quebec City on Busaway. Make a difference in an underdeveloped country on an impactful student Volunteer Trip. Explore the culture and history of Europe on Euro Adventure. For more information visit www.s-trip.com. I would absolutely love a dream trip to Spain with S-trip! I think it would be the experience of a lifetime to travel with my friends. It would bring our friendship to a whole different level and we would become even closer before we take different paths in life.

My crazy friends enjoying their grad trip in the Dominican with S-trip!

This dream vacation with my best friends from high school would create everlasting memories that will live on for many years! My graduation trip would be a lot better on the beach. 🙂 Share my blog and tell all your friends how amazing S-trip and maybe we can go to Spain together! For over 35 years S-Trip! has been a leader in student travel providing life-changing trips to over 40,000 students annually in over 40 destinations around the world. S-Trip! travelers are encouraged to become global citizens; opening their eyes to new cultures, languages, and experiences. HAPPY CANADA DAY FELLOW CANADIANS. I am more than to have been born in Canada and I am a proud Canadian. Canada has been a country of different communities. It is an ‘all-in-one’, country. I take pride in my country and I am trying to best represent where I come from, I hope to have the great opportunity to represent Canada on an international level. To celebrate Canada day, I volunteered at the Habitat for Humanity tent at Riverside park. Their missions is to  mobilize volunteers and community partners in building affordable housing and promoting home ownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty. They believe in the worth and dignity of every human being. We respect the people we serve and those that help us in this effort and recognize them as our greatest resource. They have been organized as a not-for-profit charitable organization in 2000. For every house they build in Wellington County they have committed to sending the equivalent funds to build outside of Canada. At the end of each build project, a house dedication occurs. Faith leaders representing the family are invited to bless the home, and those who contributed to the build are welcome to see the finished project. This event marks the official presentation of the property to the Partner Families and is often met with many emotions. Habitat for Humanity Canada is a national, non-profit organization working towards a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. My role was to help children and others build bird houses! Habitat for Humanity Wellington Dufferin Guelph had a table for Bird House Building at the Canada Day Festivities in Riverside Park. I helped with assembling the bird houses monitoring the painting table, and ensuring tools do not leave the area. I had a lot of fun learning how to build a bird house, teaching the children, meeting new people and painting as well. Everyone was so welcoming as soon as I got there. I was still in my car upon arrival and the volunteers at the park came knocking on my window! It was an amazing feeling that people were anticipating my arrival. I am so happy I went and got to help children have an enjoyable experience building and painting bird houses and the opportunity to talk to the community about Habitat. My parents came to Canada over 20 years ago and I am thankful to be growing up in a safe and caring community. I am proud to be Canadian today! Riverside park also hosts the fireworks show tonight, I can’t wait! How will you be celebrating your Canad day? 🙂
